Particulars of the passing of Kenneth Ramsay, son of W.P. Ramsay, the Mahanoy City lawyer, were received in a letter sent by the captain of C Co. 23d infantry, Madison Barracks, N.Y., in which he said that Kenneth while coming home from Sackset Harbor a nearby town, during a storm on the 21st inst., was struck by an uprooted tree, and had his spine fractured. He regained consciousness and lived about an hour and the doctors report that he suffered very slightly. Captain Drum writes further, “Private Ramsay was much liked by the men of his company, and during his enlistment rendered his country valuable services. His education and special aptitude as a clerk were appreciated. His death is lamented and his comradeship missed by all his friends.”
The funeral took place today from the parental residence. Services were conducted by Rev. T. Maxwell Morrison, of the Presbyterian church and Rev. G.M. Bock, of the Christ Lutheran church. Interment was made at the German Protestant cemetery. (Republican and Herald, Pottsville, PA, January 24, 1907)
