Malcolm Ramsey, 62, civil engineer for the State Highway Department and a former City Engineer, died at 3:30 o’clock Thursday afternoon at his home, 3801 Bourland St. He had been ill only the past week.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 o’clock this afternoon at the James-Coker-Peters Chapel, with Rev. Polk Moffit, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Forest Park cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: B.L. DeBerry, J.W. Birdsong, James Rutherford, Jack Johnson, Felix Frazier, Jr., and Granger Hall. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Engineering Department of the State Highway Department here.

The body will rest at the funeral home until the hour of the service.

A native of Mahanoy City, Pa., Mr. Ramsay was born on Oct. 30, 1890, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Potts Ramsay and received his high school and civil engineering training in Pennsylvania. He came to Greenville in 1920 and had since made his home here where he has been prominent in local church and civic affairs. Prior to moving to Greenville he served as City Engineer at Marshall and held the same position with the City of Greenville several years ago. He later opened his own engineering office here which he operated for a number of years, closing it at the outbreak of World War II to do government work in building Army camps and airfields. He had recently been associated with the State Highway Department here.

During his residence here he had been prominent in the affairs of the First Presbyterian Church, serving many years as a Deacon. He was also a member of the local Masonic bodies and a member of the Texas and National Society of Professional Engineers.

Surviving are his widow, the former Alice Bumann and two children, Major Malcolm Ramsay, Jr., who is with the U.S. Forces in Japan; and Mrs. Cleve Waddle, of Denton.
