Born February 17, 1960, in Cd, Altamirano, Guerrero, Mexico, he was a son of the late Gersom Aburto-Hernandez and Maria Hermlinda Mojica.
He was educated in Mexico and was formerly employed with Carolina Pride and Bekins Company at Ascend.
Gersom was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 37 years are two sons, Ariscel Aburto and wife Magali Aburto of Greenwood and Kevin Aburto of the home; a daughter, Itzel Aburto and fiancé, David Perea of Greenwood; four sisters, Veronica Aburto-Mojica and husband Arturo Vertiz, Lilliana Aburto-Mojica and husband Francisco Ambriz, all of Mexico, Elisa Aburto-Mojica of Greenwood and Yezid Flores and husband, Flavio Flores, of Anderson; two brothers, Rurico Aburto-Mojica and wife, Lilia of Mexico, and Gilson Arburto and wife Roberta of Greenwood; a granddaughter, Noelia Aburto of Greenwood; and numerous other family members both here in Greenwood and in Mexico.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Rev. Father Timothy D. Tebalt officiating.
