Edith was the daughter of Daniel Webster Miller and Lela Davis Miller. Her parents are buried in Starr Cemetery. She shares a stone with her husband, Virgil Link Douthit, who she married 26 April 1916.

Mrs. Douthit
Services for Mrs. V. L. (Edith) Douthit, 86, of 1013 E. Palestine Ave. will be Friday at 2 p.m. in the Bailey & Foster Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Terry Tolleson officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Elkhart.
Mrs. Douthit died Wednesday following a lengthy illness. She was born Jan. 2, 1900, in Anderson County, a daughter of W. R. and Lela Davis Miller. Mrs. Douthit was a member of Emanuel Baptist Church and was a seamstress for Paramount Cleaners.
Her husband preceded her in death in 1956.
Survivors include daughters, Mrs. Lloyd (Olive) Hinson and Mrs. Herman (Ezelle) Conaway, both of Palestine and Mrs. Grady (Mozelle) Fox of Sulfa, Okla.; sisters, Ruby Holtzclaw of Marshall, Texas, and Clara Bell Moore of Palestine; brother, A.C. Miller of Artesia, N.M.; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Oral Sharon, Ernest Stephenson, Virgil Walker, Jimmy Ray Odom, J. C. Loper, Milford Harrison and Charles Conaway.
