She was a native of Buncombe County and resided in Haywood County for 60 years. She was the daughter of the late Pinkney and Hester Harkins Welch and wife of the late John Hardy Fish Sr. who died in 1980. Mrs. Fish was also preceded in death by two sisters and one brother. She was a dedicated housewife, a loving mother and grandmother who loved to crochet and grow flowers. She was a member of East Fork Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Fay Teixeira and her husband, Joe, of Cruso and Sharon Moore of Waynesville; four sons and their wives, Joe Bob and Carolyn Fish of Canton, Vance and Carolyn Fish of Greenwood, S.C., John Wayne and Nellie Fish of Lexington and John Hardy Fish Jr. and Nancy of Candler; 10 grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
The funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at East Fork Baptist Church with the Rev. Matt Pruett and the Rev. Jimmy Trantham officiating. Burial will follow at New Cruso Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.
