Sylvia Atkinson, age 69, Green Bay passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center, Thursday, May 7, 2020. She was born May 5, 1951 in Lubbock, Texas to Richard and Rosa Martinez. Sylvia married Alfredo Sr. Atkinson September 1968 in Lubbock, Texas.
Sylvia was a strong and loving woman who accomplished many things in her life. Sylvia overcame severe struggles with Polio at an early age. She walked when others doubted her and was able to raise six children with her husband. Sylvia had a wonderful way of helping her family with advice that highlighted the truly important things in life like God and Family. And she had no problem telling someone to "Get a clue!" when they were speaking nonsense.
Sylvia remained a kid at heart and loved to play video games. She also enjoyed going to the casino to play penny slots and spending time with the many friends she made there. However, she most loved spending time with her children and grandchildren whom she loved dearly and always had a big smile and hug for them. Sylvia was loved by everyone who knew her and will be greatly missed.
Sylvia is survived by her children; Alfredo Atkinson Jr. (Grace), Rosemary Cervantes (David), Santos Atkinson, Guilibaldo “Wallo” Atkinson (Natashia), and Miguel Atkinson. Grandchildren; Maria , Anthony, David Jr., Augustine, Elijah, Alfred, Thor, Molly, Avrahm, Ezri, Jubilee, Verity, Ariella, Shayleigh, Richard Jr., Patsy, Jose and Josie as well as her mother, Rosa Martinez.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband Alfredo Atkinson, a daughter Christina Atkinson Hitt and her father, Richard Martinez.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at St. Agnes Catholic Church. Visitation at 10:00 am.
