Russell Wilkes, 81, of Bedford died Saturday Sept 3, 1983 in Ogden. Funeral Services were held in Bedford LDS Church Thursday Sept 8, Burial was in the Bedford Cemetery.
He was born Aug 30, 1902 in Smoot to Charles and Emma Munk Wilkes. He married Ila Eliza Wood,June 24, 1924 in the Logan LDS Temple.
He worked as assistant Lincoln County assessor, U.S Forest Service and owned and operated a farm in Bedford.
For the last seven years he and his wife lived in St. George, Utah during the winter months.
He was a member of the LDS Church and served in various capacities during the years, including first counselor in the Bedford Ward Bishopric and first counselor in the Star Valley Stake High Priest Quorum. He also served a stake mission.
He is survived by his wife, Ila, two sons Kay and Garth, a daughter Thelma Card; 29 grandchildren 19 great grandchildren, also surviving are two brothers and one sister, Frane Wilkes of Bedford, Bill Wilkes of Afton, Meleta Gardner Orem, Utah. One son, Lynn preceded him in death.
