Pella's Weekblad dated June 15, 1869, p. 2, col 2: Today, pleased Him, in whose hands lies the fate of men and children, my dear husband, Jan Schakel, at the age of over 61 years, by a sudden accident, for which he suffered for some hours, was taken from me and mine by death. The knowledge that he has fallen to sleep in the Lord expecting eternal salvation, eases our pain.
Jannigje Schakel, Pella, June 8, 1869.

I do not know for sure if he is in this cemetery. He was a member of the First Reformed Protestant Holland church and this cemetery belonged to this church. His church record is p. 51A-B and he is listed as dying in 1869. His wife is listed as Adriana van Veen. Adriana was Americanized by some to Jennie and so the given name of Jannigje on this death notice is probably Adriana.
