Obituary taken from the Del Norte Record, Crescent City, California, April 5, 1884
"On Tuesday afternoon about 4 o'clock Mr. August Fischerman, also a most respected citizen of this town, was, without a moments warning stricken down with a apoplectic stroke, and instantly expired. Deceased had been ailing for some time past, and had been confined to his residence. His wife had been in the room but a few moments before, and finding him slumbering quietly did not disturb him. When next she went in, he was dead, having apparently passed away without a struggle. Dr. Chaigneau, Deputy Coroner, was at once sent for, and on examination pronounced the cause of death as apoplexy. Deceased was buried on Thursday from the family residence and under Masonic auspices, he having been a member of that fraternity.........To the bereaved families our heartfelt sympathy is extended."
