--------------------
George V. Curll- After almost eighty-eight years of life with all its changing scenes, its joys and its sorrows, its victories and defeats, Geo. Curll of Clarion, arrived at the time when he laid down his life last Wednesday evening, September 4, 1935 and his spirit at peace with man and God, returned to the realms of Glory "which eye have not seen nor ear heard, neither hath it entered into the heart of man the things which God hath prepared for them that love him."

Mr. Curll was born February 4, 1848, in Curllsville, Clarion county, on what is known as the Curll homestead, the son of William and Sarah (Frampton) Curll.

He was early orphaned, his mother died when he was but two years old. His childhood, boyhood and early manhood were all spent in Curllsville. He was looked upon by all who knew him as one of the best posted and most successful agriculturalists in the county as he followed farming all his life until the spring of 1914 when he retired and moved to Clarion. He owned the farm that is now known as the County Home farm having sold it to the County Commissioners in 1904.

He was well read and talked fluently on almost any topic of the day. He was also a public spirit citizen and was always interested in the welfare of his community in which he lived. He served the people of Piney township most faithfully in a number of township offices having served as school director twenty-eight years.

At an early age he consecrated his life to Jesus and joined the Presbyterian Church at Churchville. When he moved to Clarion his church letter was transferred to the Presbyterian Church at this place and to this faith he remained loyal to the end. He possessed a mind of most excellent quality and was a great reader, especially of the Bible. He not only read his Bible but memorized a number of whole chapters, mostly from the Psalms and the First and Second Thessalonians and could quote them anytime.

On June 2, 1868, he was united in marriage to Margaret Anna Turney, of Monroe Township. To this union the following children were born: Mrs. Ida Showers of Watterson; Mrs. Emma Kline, Clarion; Mrs. Alice Kline, Tarentum; Mrs. Mae Shumaker, 3642 Field Ave., Detroit, Mich.; Mrs. Reba Bauss, Detroit; Robert and William Curll of Monroe Township; one son, Harry preceded him in death. His wife preceded him in death 11 years ago.

He leaves 26 grandchildren. He is the last of a family of five children. His brothers were Reid and Thomas Curll, who resided in Curllsville, before his death. His sisters were, Mrs. Emma Corbett of Iowa and Mrs. Philip Bittenbender of Porter township, this county.

Mr. Curll has spent the past several years with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Shaffer of Clarion, where he died.

Funeral services were conducted by his pastor, Rev. C. M. Stewart, assisted by Rev. D. A. Platt. Burial was made in the family plot in the Licking Presbyterian cemetery on Friday afternoon.
