Lavern was the brother of Earl West and they were very much alike. Lavern lived to the age of 102. He was a member of a very elite group, having been alive in 3 centuries.

Lavern West, 102, died Nov. 6, 2000.
He was born May 16,1898 at Woodland,
which is now Lakeside, to Samuel
Ezra and Julia Ellsworth West. He began
his elementary education in the little

most of his life in the cattle business.

the Salt River Valley for several years.
For many years, Laverne had hounds
for hunting mountain lions and whenever
a rancher had a lion problem, Laverne
was called to take care of it He was
a lifelong member of The Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He
was a missionary for most of his life,
