He married three times: first to Celia Rae Elbert in 1785; second to Abigail Castleberry on September 5, 1787 and then on October 1, 1824 to Ann Pickron Barton. Allen Gay died in Coweta County at the age of eighty-two. He was a worthy member of the Baptist Church and records indicate that the Macedonia Baptist Church was founded in his home in 1828.
