Donald J. Johndreau, 87, Sunrise Manor, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 1990, at the nursing home after a long illness. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Morningside Lutheran Church with the Rev. Marvin Mueller officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. Thursday with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel. Mr. Johndreau was born Aug. 13, 1903, at Luton, Iowa, the son of James T. and Lillian (Washburn) Johndreau. He attended Climbing Hill (Iowa) schools and came to Sioux City in 1935. He married Bernice C. Salsness Nov. 24, 1940, at Omaha. She died Nov. 27, 1987, in Sioux City. He formerly owned and operated the JD Transportation Company, retiring in 1974. Mr. Johndreau was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church. He was a foreman member and rider in Abu Bekr Shrine White Horse Mounted Patrol. Survivors include a son, Gerald R. Christensen of Sioux City; a daughter, Jeanne D. Farrin of Sioux City; two brothers, A. L. “Sonny” Johndreau of Lawton, Iowa and Allen Johndreau of Edina, Minn.; two sisters, Iva Carrothers of Omaha and Hazel Borski of Aurora, Colo.; five grandchildren, Greg Farrin, Alana Scott, Jason, Holly and Heather Christensen; two great-grandchildren, Jesse and Chad Scott. He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.
