RINGLING Services for Dorothy Marie Abshire Pemberton, 69, will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 11 , 2007, at Church of God Fellowship with the Rev. Ellen Abshire, the Rev. Virgil Ridenour and the Rev. Farrell Taylor officiating. Interment will be at Ringling Memorial Cemetery.
Born on Oct. 16, 1937, in Orr, Okla., to Seaton Anderson and Rosa Lee Farris Abshire, she died on Aug. 8, 2007, at her Cornish residence. She and L.C. Pemberton were married on Jan. 9, 1957, in Ardmore. She was preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 29, 1997; a son, Kelly Pemberton on June 12, 1993; sisters, Bonnie Stanford, Sherry Muniz, Lottie Oldham, Geneva "Bug" Gregg; and brothers, Short, Clyde, Oscar and Coy Abshire.
Raised in Orr, she moved to Cornish in the late 1970s and worked at Marietta Sportswear for 15 years then Stromberg-Carlson, retiring after 15 years.
Dorothy and L.C. had four children, three surviving, Ramona and Les Thoroughman, Wilson, Toy and Starky Davila, Lawton, and Kirby Pemberton and Sheila Hicks, of the home; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, Rani and Madison Pemberton King, Ringling, Tina, Jamie and Justin Quaid, Marshall Texas, Quiqui Barnes, Healdton, Cody and Body Powell, Wilson, Konnor Kenzie, Tyler, Texas, Kelsey Hicks, Laramye and Ty Thoroughman, Wilson, all of whom she loved as her own; four sisters, her twin, Virginia and Bill Johnson, Ardmore, Letha Martin and family, Healdton, Joy and Cesar Gonzales, Healdton, Syble Lyle and family, Ringling; two brothers, Ikie Joe and Brenda Abshire, Velma, and Clarence and Ellen Abshire, Ringling.
Bearers are Eric Martin, Casey Martin, Karlin Barnes, Ernie Marshall and Henry McDaniel.
