As a youth he moved with his parents to a farm near Dempster, SD. He enjoyed playing softball and baseball. In addition to helping his parents on the farm he also worked for area farmers and the Estelline Community Oil until he was 29 years old.
At the age of 21, he yielded his life to God after responding to a Gospel meeting invitation from a family he worked with. At age 29, he was moved to give his life in the ministry of Jesus Christ. He faithfully served in South Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska and Minnesota.
In March of 2005, he went to live at Kosgrove Estates Assisted Living Facility at Sioux Center, IA, where he shared in the special care given there. He also enjoyed the liberty of going places with many of his family / friends while living there. With failing health he entered Plymouth Manor at LeMars, IA. in April of this year.
Ben is survived by three sisters Hilda Knutson of Estelline, SD, Minnie (Harry) Leithead of Camp Verde, AZ, Adeline Rhoads of Lincoln, NE; two sisters-in-law Beverly Tuin of Bonners Ferry, ID, Audrey (Irwin) Linneman of Estelline, SD; one brother-in-law Jack Angelbeck of San Bernardino, CA; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Roelf (Infant), Ralph and John Tuin, sisters Gertie Hansen, Tillie Hansen, Ann Freesemann and Jean (Henrietta) Angelbeck and brothers-in-law Alvin Hansen, John Freesemann and Donald Knutson.
