GASTON, ANNE (Fish) PERDUE - born May 8, 1915 in Clayton County, Georgia, passed away peacefully at Summit View of Farragut Nursing Home. Daughter of Willie J. and Ethel Starr Perdue. Anne loved God and life. Her favorite things were church activities, telling stories, reminiscing about times past, and cooking for her church and her adopted family. Anne was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Knoxville for 70 years and taught Sunday School to the youth. She also helped with the missions and women's groups. Anne spent some 40 years, mostly in residence, with the Dray and Carol Dayton family, first in Knoxville, moving with the family to Gladwyne, PA for 20 years, and returning to Knoxville in 1982, while continuing to serve her beloved family. Her best friends was Willie C. Crutcher, wife of longtime Mount Olive Pastor, W. T. Crutcher. She was much loved by family and friends and will be forever remembered by surviving Dayton family members, David, Peter, Nelson and Wicky, and their children, all of whom she so lovingly helped raise. Preceded in death by her husband, William T. Gaston, who died during WWII with the Army in Germany; sisters, Thera Studdard, Annette Purdue Jackson; brother, Willie Perdue; nieces, Barbara Beaman and Mattie Witcher and nephews, Eugene and Freddie Lightner. She is survived by five nephews, three nieces, six great nieces and eight great nephews. Family will receive family, 11:00 - 11:30 a.m., Tuesday at Mount Olive Baptist Church; funeral service, 11:30 a.m., Rev. Dr Valentino J. McNeal, Officiating. Interment Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family and friends ask that contributions be made to Mount Olive Baptist Church, 1601 Dandridge Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37915.
