Violet Geraldine (Cohron) Kyle, 88, of Stuarts Draft, died peacefully after a brief illness Saturday morning, August 4, 2007, at Augusta Medical Center of Fishersville.
Born April 11, 1919, in Stuarts Draft, she was a daughter of the late Oscar and Lenora (Coiner) Cohron.
Geraldine had spent several years working as a nurse's aide at the former Waynesboro Community Hospital. She was a member of Stuarts Draft Baptist Church and had attended Ridgeview Baptist Church. She enjoyed yard sales, her flowers, and most of all enjoyed walking around her yard.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Kyle, who passed away April 9, 1986; two brothers, Elwood and Ward Lee Cohron; and a brother-in-law, Burt Godfrey.
Geraldine is survived by her daughter, Anne Flory and her husband, Benny, of Waynesboro; a son, Joseph Kyle and his wife, Regina, of Waynesboro; a sister, Jane Godfrey of Virginia Beach; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Flory and his wife, Katrina, Deborah Gordon and her husband, Steve, Kelly Baker and her husband, Jason, Marc Kyle and his wife, Julie, and Micah Kyle and his wife, Susann; five great -grandchildren, Ashley and Rachael Flory, Kyle and Ben Gordon, and Dylan Kyle; one step-great-grandchild, Garan Stalcup; two sisters-in-law, Hilda and Eula Cohron; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as many kind friends and wonderful neighbors.
Granny was proud of her grandchildren and great -grandchildren. She loved us and never wanted to be a burden to anyone and recently said, "She did the best she could." We will all miss her.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2007, at Augusta Memorial Park, with the Reverend Judson Baldwin and Pastor Earl Monroe officiating.
The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.
