Samuel E. Showalter, 85, Chester, O., died at 7:30 a.m. yesterday in Athens County hospital, Athens, following an extended illness.
Born Sept. 28, 1875, in Wirt County, he spent several years in that vicinity before moving to Ohio. He was a member of the Prosperity Brethren Church in Wirt county, and the JOUAM in Parkersburg.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. A. H. Sheppard, Vienna; a son, Forrest Showalter, Long Bottom, O.; two sisters, L. J. Wilkinson, Akron, and Mrs. C. L. Roward, Fairmont; eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Ewing funeral home in Pomeroy, O. The Rev. A. N. Hart will officiate and burial will be in the Chester cemetery.
