Fred G. Docken, 71, died Friday at his home, 2555 Colorado.

Born March 1, 1917, in St. Vincent, Minn., to Andrew and Lena Docken, he attended schools there and moved to Butte in 1954.

Mr. Docken served in the Army during World War II and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Butte Aerie No. 11, Fraternal Order of Eagles.

He was retired as a laborer for Stauffer Chemical.

In 1947, Mr. Docken married the former Ellen Wixsten in Lancaster, Minn. She survives.

Other survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn Jones of Butte, Darla Wilcox of Kalispell, Marilyn and Ed Berger of Great Falls, Ruth and Jim Jaramello of Walensburg, Colo., and Dianna and Mike Flanigan of Tooele, Utah; sons and daughter-in-law, Leland Docken of Deer Lodge and Leon and Lynn Docken of Missoula; 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Cecilia Ardies of Fairmount, N.D., Elizabeth Vanous of Lancaster, Alice Davis of Kasota, Minn., and Ruby Adolphson of San Diego; and a brother, Ray Docken of Butte.

Preceding him in death were three brothers and two sisters.

Services will be Tuesday at 1 in Gloria Del Lutheran Church with Pastor Jerry Lynch officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery with military honors accorded by the United Veterans Council.

Memorials are preferred to charity. Wayrynen-Richards Funeral Home is in charge.
