Andrew Docken, 80, Rite Held at Lancaster Baptist
Andrew G. Docken, resident of Kittson County since 1910, died at the Greenbush Hospital at 11:48 a.m. Monday, October 2nd, 1961 where he had been hospitalized since May 31st. He attained the age of 80 years, 3 months and 17 days.
The deceased was born June 14th 1881 to Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Docken at Sisseton, South Dakota. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in his home community. Mr. Docken was united in marriage to Lena Bushie September 12th, 1912 at Caribou. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and son Robert and three brothers, Ole, Olivus and Henry. He is survived by 10 children, Mrs. Irene Rondeau, Grand Forks, Mrs. Ingvold Anderson, Middle River; Mrs. Olaf Anderson, Opheim, Mont.; Mrs. Raymond Davis, St. Peter; Mrs. Richard Glad, Lancaster; Mrs. Carl Adolfson, San Diego, Calif.; Fred, Butte, Mont.; Raymond, Idaho Falls, Idaho; Lawrence, Northcote and John with the 4th Army, Fort Sam Houston, Texas and 44 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; also a brother, Lewis, Thief River Falls and a sister, Mrs. Lena Larson, Salem, Oregon.
Mr. Docken was engaged in farming all of his lifetime and also worked as a farm hand for many years in the area. He possessed a pleasing personality and carried great respect among his community who mourn his passing.
The funeral was held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 6th at the Lancaster Baptist Church, Pastor George Fife officiating, Mrs. Algot Erickson, was pianist and Mrs. George Fife, Soloist.
Serving as pallbearers were: Oscar Sanner, Carl and Emil Johnson, Charles Murray, Charles Bedard and John Nordstrom.
Interment was made in the Lancaster Cemetery with the Larson-Hoenke Funeral Service in charge.
