Mrs. Zick Rites Held at Zeeland


ZEELAND --- Funeral services were conducted here Tuesday for Mrs. Wade H. ZICK, 44, well known Zeeland club woman who died in the Eureka, SD, Hospital Friday.

The Rev. Ernst Kaszus officiated at the rites in the Zion Lutheran Church. Pallbearers were Duane Levi, Charles, Stanley and James Boschee and Francis Streifel,, all of Zeeland, and Gail Hernett, Ashley. Interment was made in the church cemetery.

Active in civic, church and 4-H affairs, Mrs. Zick was one of 11 persons from McIntosh County to appear in "who's Who for North Dakota." She served on many fund drives and city celebrations. At the time of her deaths, she was president of the McIntosh County 4-H Council serving in that same capacity from 1942 until 1950.

Mrs. Zick was awarded the 15-year 4-H pin in July and the Women's Read Award in May for an article on the Zeeland recreational program she contributed to the national 4-H magazine. She was past president of the McIntosh County Homemakers Club. She also was a former member of the county health committee and the North Dakota Agricultural Research and Planning Committee and served on the board of directors of the Eureka Music Assn.

The former Laya Boschee, Mrs. Zick was born at Zeeland Sept. 23, 1912, the daughter of Adolph and Christina Krein Boschee. She received her education in public schools here and on Aug. 30, 1934, was married to Wade H. Zick in St. John's Reformed Church of Zeeland.

The couple resided in Chaffee, N. D. for seven years while Mr. Zick taught school and retuned to Zeeland in 1941. Mr. Zick was a member of the school faculty here until becoming manager of the local branch of the McIntosh County Bank in 1942.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Zick is survived by two children, Nancy and Donald, at home; her mother, Mrs. Christina Boschee, Zeeland; one sister, Mrs. Jacob Levi, Zeeland, and eight brothers, Edwin, August, Julius, Thomas and Milbert Boschee, all of Zeeland; Arthur and Eugene Boschee, Minneapolis, and Ervin Boschee, Linton. Her father died June 25, 1955.
