Mr. Caleb Brown, Jr. of Cordele, Georgia died Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at the Magnolia Hospice in Riverdale, Georgia.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Odum Grove Baptist Church in Cordele, Georgia.
The burial will follow at the Bethel Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.
Mr. Caleb Brown, Jr. was born November 27, 1934 in Cordele, Georgia. He was the son of the late Mr. Caleb Brown, Sr. and the late Mrs. Dolzie Lee Brown.
He received his early childhood education in the public school system in Cordele, Georgia. He accepted Christ at an early age, and served faithfully in his local church, Odom Grove Baptist Church, as an usher until his health began to fail.
In January of 1956, Mr. Caleb Brown married the late Mrs. Essie Mae Chaniel Brown and to their union five children were born and three children raised. Mr. Caleb worked as a farmer for over 50 years and later was employed with the Crisp County Public Services Department for 10 years.
In 1992, Mr. Caleb married the late Mrs. Elizabeth Fletcher Brown and he became a beloved stepfather to Miss LaShawn Ramsey, who also precedes him in death.
Mr. Caleb’s excellent work ethics, which include being a very hard worker; led him on the path of becoming a dedicated and successful farmer. He applied those skills and wisdom in accomplishing numerous tasks. He also enjoyed fishing, cooking, spending time with his family and listening to Gospel music. His favorite time of the year was watermelon season which afforded him the opportunity to interact with his friends at the Watermelon Market.
Mr. Caleb Brown, Jr. had been a patient at Piedmont Hospital in Fayetteville, Georgia before being discharged. Upon his discharge he became a patient at the Magnolia Hospice Center in Riverdale, GA where he transitioned from this earthly tabernacle to his heavenly home on Wednesday, June 5, 2019.
He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Israel “Boy-Boy” Brown and Nathaniel Lawrence; his grandson, Tuvache’ “John Boy” Brown; his brother-in-law, Norris Welborn and his sister-in-law, Betty Brown.
