During the early morning hours of Wednesday, February 19, 2020, Mr. Dewey Worley Jr., age 76 of Marion, departed from this world to go home and be with the Lord at Mission Hospital McDowell with his beloved family by his side.

Dewey was born on May 24, 1943, in Madison county North Carolina, and was the son of the late Dewey and Loveda Buckner Worley.

A proud veteran of the United States Army, and a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church, Dewey was a self-made landscaper, having started his landscaping business in 1980. He had a passionate love for hunting, fishing, and horseback riding. Dewey also enjoyed playing the guitar and was the singer for a bluegrass band called the Rocky Knob Boys. More than everything else, he loved his family and spending time making precious memories with those he loved.

Left to cherish Dewey’s memory is his wife of twenty love filled years, Patricia Worley; two children, Lucretia Worley, and Chad Worley (Jeanie); four step-children, Selena Young, Mark Huggins (Pattie), Jessica Huggins, and Kimberly Huggins. He also leaves behind four precious grandchildren, Samantha Young, Elizabeth Young, Jaxson Huggins and Alexis Huggins.

A funeral service to celebrate the life and homegoing of Dewey will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 22, 2020, at Zion Hill Baptist Church, with Dr. Tom Walker officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M., two hours prior to the service at the church.

Interment will follow the service at Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, where military honors will be provided by the United States Army.
