Bernice Bowlin Barrington, 73, of Bennettsville, S.C. passed away on Monday, Aug. 19, 2013.

She is survived by her husband John Arlen Barrington, her sons Greg Leonard (Kim) of Bennettsville and John A. Barrington, Jr. (Dana) of Texas, her daughters Janice Cole (Ronnie) of Laurinburg, Diane Boulward (James) of Huntsville, Ala., and Belinda McLaughlin (Vinnie) of Apex, her sisters Elsie Price, Edna Shockley, Annette Newman, and Bessy Dodson of Morristown, Tenn., Shirley Morgan of Hendersonville, and Daisy Alley of Dayton, Ohio, her sister-in-law Edna Bowlin of Hendersonville, 18 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her six brothers: Clay, Coy, Conley, George, Merlin, and Lewis.

Born on Aug. 27, 1939 in Hancock County, Tenn., she was a daughter of the late James and Della Hensley Bowlin. An active member of Boykin United Methodist Church, Bernice also formerly served with the Laurinburg Presbyterian Church Day Care, Abbott Labs, and Miller Properties. Her love of children and hummingbirds were always a large part of her life.
