Amos was the son of Simpkin and Sarah Harriman. He married Rachel Biggs in Union Co. 08/31/1865 having two daughters; Carrie in 1867 & Mary Mae in 1873, (listed on her 1951 Ohio death certificate). He's found on an 1874 land purchase in Putnam Co. with father-in-law Thomas Biggs, and Rachel's name is on the 1877 deed when the land sold at, what looks like, a major financial loss. Rachel then petitioned for a divorce in 1880, saying he'd been absent from their marriage for three years, which was granted 02/03/1881. He's found in the 1850, 1860, 1870 & 1880 US census; the first two with parents; 1870 with Rachel & Carrie in Bokes Creek Twp Logan Co & 1880 has him as a "widower" working at a tile mill in Union County. The murder of daughter Carrie in July 1890, shows him at her funeral. The extensive Bellefontaine Republican article says "Mrs. Parmenter's parents and friends had come from Union County." The last record of him we've found is the July 31, 1890 Logan Co. probate court document on which he declines to administer his daughter's estate. These Richwood Gazette blurbs tell the tale of his passing, at the home of nephew Harvey and niece Rebecca Jane Haines, she being the daughter of Amos' brother John.
