PONTIAC - Gale Alltop, 99, of Pontiac, IL passed away at 7:47 pm on Sunday, February 16, 2020 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Calvert & Martin Funeral Home in Pontiac with Rev. James O. Wolfe III officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 12:00 pm on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow services at Memorial Park Cemetery in rural Pontiac, IL.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Livingston County Boys and Girls Club.
Gale was born May 28, 1920 in rural Pontiac, IL a son of Delbert and Nicie (Hamilton) Alltop.
He is survived by one sister, Velma Matter and one sister-in-law, Shirley Alltop.
He lived and laughed, creating and pranking his beloved family members. He had 11 siblings, 23 nieces and nephews, 59 great nieces and nephews, 92 great-great nieces and nephews and 39 great-great-great nieces and nephews.
Gale was preceded in death by his parents; his six brothers, Joseph, Edward, Donald, Glenn, Delbert and Ceril Alltop and four sisters, Ruby Goode, Erma Goode, Marguerite Trent and Esther Ide.
He was a farmer all his life. No one worked harder than him. Gale was a mechanical genius and a gifted artist. He had a meek and gentle spirit that showed through his love of children and animals.
In his later years, Gale had some special caretakers that meant a lot to him, Richard and David Alltop, Linda Mitchey, Kim Harms and Jenny Kelly. Gale enjoyed going to town and was a regular at Pontiac Family Kitchen.
The family wants to thank Sonny and his staff for always taking good care of him.
Gale leaves us with wonderful memories, God Bless you Uncle Gale!
