MRS. HELEN EDWARDS WAS
82 YEARS OLD LAST SUNDAY
About seventy friends and relatives gathered at the home of Mrs. Helen Edwards to help her celebrate her eighty-second birthday anniversary, Sunday, June 24. Among the guests were two daughters, Mrs. W. G. Cole and family, Mrs. Lettie Walker and daughter, a son, Wayne Harrison, and family,, also three nephews, Midian Kriger and family of Chicago, W. C. Lovejoy and wife of Hillsdale, Hammond Fields and wife of Grant and a niece, Mrs. Elsie Cole of Trent.
Mrs. Edwards is the only one living of a family of seven children. The families of three sisters and one brother were each represented by the three nephews and one niece. Besides these several grandchildren and great-grandchildren were present.
A picnic dinner was served. Mrs. Edwards received many pretty and useful gifts.

DEATH COMES TO COUNTY PIONEER
Mrs. Helen Edwards, Aged 88 years, passes After Long Illness
Mrs. Helen Edwards, widow of the late William Edwards, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Clare Perkins in this village last Sunday, December 22, following an extended illness.
Mrs. Edwards was born in Stockholm, New York, June 23, 1840, being 88 years of age at the time of her death. While still a small child, she came with her parents to Michigan, the trip from the Empire state being made in a covered wagon. For a time the family resided at Hillsdale, then came to Newago county and took up a government claim of forty acres in Ashland township. Most of Mrs. Edwards' life had been spent in or near Newaygo, Garfield township having been her home for many years. She is survived by four children.
Funeral services, conducted by Rev. W. S. Phillips, were held in the Methodist church yesterday afternoon and interment was in the local cemetery.
