BEN CORDS

Ben Cords, 80, of Ravenna died Monday, Oct. 5, 2009 at Seneca Sunrise in Ravenna.

Memorial Services were 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009 at Faith Lutheran Church in Hazard with Rev. Dean Hanson officiating.

He was cremated.

Music was provided by Carol Lee Johnson and the congregation.

Ben Cords was born June 15, 1929 to Henry and Verna (Metz) Cords in Pleasanton.

He was educated in Ravenna.

He married Betty Spencer on July 24, 1950 in Litchfield.

The couple farmed in Sherman County and lived on several ranches in the Broken Bow and Sargent area. They moved to Hazard in 1966.

He worked as a mechanic for Kirchner Implement in Ravenna.

In 1976 the couple traveled on the Bicentennial Wagon Train to Valley Forge.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Lonnie and LaVonne Cords of Grand Island, a daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Jack Beberniss of Grand Island, six grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, a brother, Kim Cords of Ravenna and a sister, Melva Fletcher of Bassett.

He was preceded in death by his wife, a sister, Ina and a brother, Carly.

Rasmussen Funeral Home in Ravenna is in charge of arrangements.
