MILDRED H. SCHENCK

MEXICO- Mildred H. Schenck, 81, of Fort Leazier Road died Tuesday at St. Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse.

A native of Fort Wayne, Ind., Mrs. Schenck lived in Mexico since 1947. She served 11 years on the Mexico Academy and Central School Board of Education and one term as board president.

Mrs. Schenck was a member of the Mexico Historical Society 10 years, serving as a member of the board of directors and treasurer. She was secretary of Friends of Casey's Cottage and was involved in the creation of Mexico Point Park.

Surviving are her husband, John C.; seven daughters, Cynthia Scott of Texas, Mary Anne Merrill of New Jersey, Mildred Kathleen Briggs of California, Sharon Lee of Mexico, Carolyn Piccolino of Minnesota, Margaret Broadley of Pennsylvania and Judith Perry of Australia; five sons, John of Schenectady, James of Delaware, and David, Thomas and Daniel, all of Mexico; a sister, Charlotte Brase of Indiana; 28 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in North Mexico Methodist Church, the Rev. Nola Carroll officiating. Burial will be in Primitive Cemetery.

Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. today at Harter Funeral Home, 5305 Washington Ave.

Contributions may be made to the Mexico Historical Society or Friends of Casey's Cottage.
