Ruth Mae Philpott, or Ruthie to her family and friends, was born on Saturday, June 20th, 1953 in Briggs, OK, the daughter of James Robert and Prudence Leona (English) Philpott. She attended school and grew up in a hectic household of 16 brothers and sisters, Edith Eden, Mamie Kirk, Pearly Shepherd, Robert Philpott, Rosie Gatewood, Bobby Lee Philpott, John Lewis Philpott, Florence Young, Lorene Poteet, Lawrence Philpott, Florence Young, Wesley Philpott, James Paul Philpott, and Billy Ray Philpott. She attended school at Oakdale. She married Tuscon Westmoreland. She was the proud mother of three sons, Bryan Westmoreland, Anthony Philpott, and Travis Cobb. She worked as a Certified Nurse’s Aide. When she wasn’t working, she loved music, and listened to Elvis as well as played guitar and piano. She was with the family musician, “The Singing Philpotts”, comprised of Bill, Mickie, Ruth and niece Lena, and they went all over the area singing gospel music. She adored her family and loved spending time with them whenever she had the chance, especially the holidays. She was a good cook and loved to make special treats for her boys. A Christian by faith, Ruthie attended Briggs Church. Her health began to fail her and she moved to Stilwell to receive medical care. She passed from this life on Wednesday, January 22nd, 2020 in Stilwell, OK. She was 66 years old. She will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Robert Barton and Dewilder (Woolard) Philpott, and Howard Truman and Venita Elnora (Pence) English. Her brotehrs and sisters that have gone on before her include Bobby Lee Philpott, Johnny Philpott, James Philpott, Mamie Kirk and husband Albert, Rosetta Gatewood and husband Tom, Pearly Mae Shephard and husband Clede, and Betty Lou Rotramel and Husband Toy, Lorene Poteet and husband Charlie and second husband Bill Poteet, Sister Edith Eden and husband Dan, and one sister-in-law, Cheryl Wood.

Her memory will be cherished by her sons, Bryan Westmoreland and companion Jamie Everly of Tahlequah, Anthony Wayne Philpott of Tahlequah, and Travis Alexander Cobb and wife Laura of Quapaw, OK. She also leaves three brothers and two sisters, Bill Philpott of Stilwell, OK, Lawrence Philpott and Kay Rogers of Tahlequah, OK, Wesley Ray Philpott and wife Galena of Lowery, OK, Florence Young of Colcord, OK, and Florence Young of Westville, OK. She lives on in her four grandchildren, as well as her many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
