*Robert and Elizabeth's graves are marked with a single white marble marker; 2 tablets: one with birth & death date on each, side by side under arches. A circlet of flowers with "Father & Mother." Inscription: "Their toils are past. Their work is done, and they are fully blest. They fought the fight the victory won and enter into rest." Near their graves is a single marker for their infant son and infant daughter.

Robert Ground III was the son of Robert Ground II and Rhoda Conway Long; he had the following siblings: John Grounds, Mary who married Isaac Goodnight, Henry, Edward, Drusilla who married Jacob Gardner Boydstun (both buried at Pleasant Valley), Margaret, Rhoda, William, and Harrison Ground.

Robert married in 1838, Elizabeth Goodnight (buried at Pleasant Valley), daughter of Isaac Goodnight and Elizabeth McMurry; they had the following children: Edward (buried at Pleasant Valley), Isaac Henry, Thomas Jefferson, John, Sarah Catherine, Infant Son Ground, Elizabeth Goodnight, William Harrison, Infant Daughter Ground, Stephen Arnold Douglas, Annie Elizabeth, and Robert Letcher Ground.

Robert was an early Pioneer of Dallas Co.; he came with 3 other pioneer families to TX: Holland, Boydstun and Lowe--many all buried at Pleasant Valley.
