Sarah Rivers was born ca. 1755 probably in South Carolina, daughter of [unknown] Rivers and Miriam [maiden name unknown, who later married George Mitchell or Michel], sister of Matthew Rivers, and of Elizabeth Rivers who married John Bowles.

Records are scant. The Beaufort district courthouse records burned in 1865 in Columbia where they had been taken for believed safe-keeping during the war.

It seems likely that this Sarah Rivers was connected to the other Rivers families in early South Carolina, but information is lacking, even a good theory.

Of recent note, a few of Sarah's descendants have some autosomal DNA in common with a few descendants of the Thomas D. Rivers (1827-1885) branch, but her connection would have to be several generations before that. It is possible that the DNA connection is to a non-Rivers branch, though that seems not likely. From a family letter, we know that Sarah Rivers married ca. 1775 widower Charles Bealer, he having three living children with his first wife.

Sarah and Charles had four children:
1. William Porter Bealer, born ca. 1780, married Henrietta Villard, died ca. 1825
2. Miriam Bealer, born ca. 1782, married Henry Smith, died 1803
3. Christina Bealer, born ca 1784, married Richard Cole, died 1855
4. Elizabeth Rivers Bealer born 1787, married William Fendin Cheney, died 1833.

Sarah died ca. 1799.

Perhaps buried at the church.
