US Congressman. In 1880, he immigrated to the United States and engaged in the publishing business. He studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1899 and commenced practice in Chicago. From 1898 to 1914, he was a member of the State Senate and assistant attorney of the Sanitary District of Chicago, 1907 to 1911. In 1917, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-fifth and Sixty-sixth Congresses, serving until 1921. An unsuccessful candidate for re-nomination, he was appointed United States collector of customs for the port of Chicago by President Harding in 1921. He served until 1922, when he resigned and resumed the practice of law until his death.
