ISHPEMING -- Clifford "Skip" Alongo, 72 of 1745 North Lake Drive, Ishpeming, died Wednesday, October 31, 2001 at home. He was in ill health for the past six months.
He was born in Negaunee on May 1,1929 to the late Victor and Jenny (Bond) Alongo. Clifford was a life long resident of the area. He retired from Cleveland Cliffs Iron Co. in 1996 after 42 years of service. He also owned Skip's Body Shop in Ishpeming.
Surviving are his wife, Gail, three sons: C. James (Joan) Alongo of Ishpeming, Steve (Beth) Alongo of Ishpeming, and Dale Alongo of Ishpeming, three daughters: Susan (Mike Ketola) Emanuelson of Ishpeming, Debbie Megan of Brimfield, Illinois and Denise (Rady) Jones of Claremore, OK, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jane, and two sons, Richard and Jeff, granddaughter Janie Sue Emanuelson and step brother William A. Larson.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 3, 2001 at 5:00 pm at the Perala Funeral Home with his son C. James Alongo officiating. Friends may cll at the funeral home from 2:00 until 5:00 on Saturday. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons; Gary Emanuelson, Dale Alongo Jr. John Megan, Shawn LaMora, Mark Megan, and James Alongo. Burial will be in the Negaunee Cemetery.
