She was born Mary Lee Ashley on March 23, 1922 to Ceila Elizabeth Newby Ashley and Lee Felix Ashley. Mary Lee was the fifth of six children, having two brothers, Jim and Eugene, and three sisters, Annie, Dessie and Ruby.
Mary Lee married Leroy Moore on April 21, 1939 and they raised two girls, Wanda Dean and Mary Elizabeth, three boys, George Leroy, Edwin Eugene and James DeWayne. Later, Mary Lee adopted Marcus DeWayne.
Mary Lee worked many years at Signal Knitting Mill and was an avid bowler at Holiday Bowl. She was also an avid fisherwoman.
Mary Lee is survived by one daughter, Wanda Dean Green, three sons, Edwin Eugene, James DeWayne and Marcus DeWayne, 28 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Services will be held for family and friends at Hamilton Memorial Gardens Chapel of Devotion on Saturday at 1 p.m.
