Mr. Ross was a member of Blue Ridge Chapel of the Brethren, and was a machinist at Basic-Witz Corp. until his retirement in 1960.
He was a member of the popular group, "The Singing Ross Family."
He was born in Augusta County June 20, 1904, a son of the late Clint Daniel and Flora Shreves Ross.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Wolfe Ross; four sons, William A. Ross and Joseph Ray Ross, both of Route 3, the Rev. Jimmy R. Ross of Loganville, Pa., and Jerry B. Ross of Sanford, Fla.; two daughters, Mrs. Harry A. (Coralee Ann) Smith of Route 2, and Mrs. Kenneth J. (Peggy) Fletcher of Route 3, one sister, Mrs. Susie R. Glass of Route 3; also 17 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Lamar Harlan Ross.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Blue Ridge Chapel of the Brethren, conducted by the Rev. Dee C. Flory, with burial in Augusta Memorial Park cemetery.
The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to the Christian Housing Assistance Corp., 364 Bridge Ave.
Friends will be received from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Etter Funeral Home.
