Clifford V. Doerr, 104 Sherman St., a painter, died Saturday evening in Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, following a long illness. He had been a patient in the hospital for 15 days.

Doerr, who was 36, was born July 21, 1919, in Bethalto, a son of William and Mamie Klein Doerr.

He worked as a painter at Olin Mathieson Chemical Corp. for 13 years prior to his illness and was a member of Painters Local 917. He also belonged to the Bethalto Volunteer Fire Department.

Surviving are his widow, the former Miss Reba McDonald, to whom he was married Feb. 13, 1943; five sisters, Miss Gertrude Doerr, Bethalto; Mrs. Harry (Esther) Jarrett, Alton; Mrs. Gimmy, Wood River; Mrs. Archie Lowe, Rosewood Heights, and Mrs. Horace Rutherford, Roxana; four brothers, William, Robert and Vernon, Bethalto, and Frank of Alton.

The body is at Smith Funeral Home, Bethalto, where friends may call. Funeral rites will be conducted Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Assembly of God Church, Bethalto, with the Rev. A. H. Ferguson officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memory Garden, Bethalto.
