Mr. Alfonzo Thomas, 70, of Chicago formerly of Martin died Saturday, January 4, 2020, at his residence.
Services will be held at noon on Saturday, January 11, 2020, at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Rosehill Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
Alfonzo Thomas was born October 12, 1949 in Greenfield, Tennessee to Levi and Lizzie Thomas.
He graduated from Weakley County Training School and was a member of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, Greenfield, Tennessee.
Alfonzo moved to Chicago, Illinois at an early age. While there, he worked at the Jewel Warehouse for 15 years, the Railroad Carrier for 5 years and the Salvation Army for 5 years.
He had a heart of gold. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandsons.
Preceding him in death is his father, mother, and two brothers.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his daughter, Shawana (David) Thomas, brother, Lonnie (Vanessa) Thomas of Greenfield, TN, sister, Jeanette Thomas of Martin, TN, two granddaughters, Ashante Smith of Memphis, TN and Nyisha Smith of Martin, TN, two great grandsons, two nieces, five nephews, a very special friend at heart, Ms. Maggie Grandberry, and a host of cousins and friends.
