At the age of 101, dame Hayda Denault passed away on January 5, 2001. A woman of love and courage, she was one of the pioneers of social services in Québec. She founded Family Services of Québec, participated in the foundation of the Social Services school at the Université Laval and was one of the first women to teach at the Université Laval. She was a member of the Order of Canada. She leaves to mourn her her nieces: Claudette McGill (Jack), Hélène and Andrée Denault and her nephew Bernard (Claudette Corbeil), as well as several great-nieces and nephews.
