Ann was born 25 August 1821 to William Samuel Burgess and Fanny Round. She married first to Richard Ashdown on November 10, 1841 but later divorced. Her second marriage was to Thomas Briggs on May 25, 1877 in the Saint George LDS Temple.

Mrs. Ann Burgess Briggs passed away last Sunday evening [3 July 1898] after a long and severe illness.

Funeral services were held at the tabernacle on Thursday [7 July 1898] at 10 o'clock. The speakers were Alfred Burningham, Albert Shirley, Samuel Smedley, C. R. Jones, John Kynaston, Counselor Henry Rampton, Richard Duerden, John Goodfellow, Judson Tolman and D. O. Willey.

Deceased was born in Sussex, England, seventy-seven years ago, joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the fifties, emigrated to Utah in 1862. She was the mother of seven children, thirty-six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was very much respected by all who knew her.
