W. E. was born in Philadelphia on January 12, 1920 to the late T. J. and Lillian Alexander.
A longtime resident of Clinton, W. E. was the owner of Alexander Tile and Marble until he sold it in 1984. After selling his business, he went to work for Builders Marble until he retired in 2002.
W.E. was of the Methodist faith and attended Trinity Wesleyan Church.
His parents and four siblings and his son, Michael R. Alexander precede him.
W. E. is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ruby Lane Alexander of Clinton; son, Jerry Alexander and his wife, Deborah, of Rogersville, Mo.; and daughter, Linda Ruth Alexander of Clinton.
His grandchildren Wayne Alexander of Willard, Mo., Mark Alexander of Marshfield, Mo., Susan Dodsworth of Altamont, Kan., Glen Alexander of Hobe Sound, Fla., Lisa Alexander of Cincinnati, Ohio; and 12 great-grandchildren also survive him.
