PENHOOK -- Carl Booker Dalton, 83, of 15810 Old Franklin Turnpike Road, Penhook, died Sunday, April 6, 2003, in a Roanoke hospital.
Born March 12, 1920, in Pittsylvania County, he was preceded in death by his parents, Pomp Anderson Dalton and Cora Jefferson Dalton; two brothers, Clarence Dalton, his twin, and Walker Dalton; and two sisters, Edith Dehart and Ethel Robertson.
Dalton was retired chief forest warden for Franklin County with the Virginia Division of Forestry and had been co-owner of Carl's Place for 56 years. He was a member of the Snow Creek Masonic Lodge No. 90, and a charter member of the Sandy Level Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and treasurer.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, one son, one daughter, one brother, three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. today at Sandy Level Baptist Church with the Revs. Gene Ashworth and R.G. Rowland and Minister Wayne Grinnell officiating. Burial with Masonic rites by the Snow Creek Masonic Lodge No. 90 will be in Liberty Memorial Cemetery.
