Lula Belle Harding, a long-time resident of the Fairland area, peacefully passed away Saturday the 7th of December at her home.

Lula was born to Roscoe and Mable Mahurin in 1936 at their home in rural Fairland, OK. During her young adulthood, Lula lived in Oklahoma, Missouri, Oregon and back to Oklahoma where she raised her five children and lived out the rest of her life.

Lula had several occupations but loved her job as a CNA at the Miami Baptist Hospital. Lula was a member of the First Christian Church of Afton, Oklahoma where she was blessed with many friends and a wonderful church family she loved so much.

One of Lula’s passions was her family; especially the grand and great grandchildren in which she helped raise most. She always made sure she had what they liked to snack on. Family and friends knew to use the back door and to help themselves to the sweet tea in the frig!
Another of Lula’s passions was to make sure the wild critters around her house were fed. Cats that came to her back porch were fed every day, the raccoons and opossums had something on the back porch at night. It was nothing for her to use 250 lbs of sugar feeding the hummingbirds during the summer.

Lula was implemental in obtaining the Irrevocable Trust for the Sulphur Bend Cemetery and served as Secretary/Treasurer for many years until retiring her post this Spring. She enjoyed visiting with everyone, rain or shine, that came to pay their respect over memorial weekend.
Lula is preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe, and Mabel Mahurin, husband, James F Harding, son, Danny Oakley, great grandson, Traver Ryan, stepdaughter, Terri Ann, step great grandson, Isaac Harding and her loving companion, Tramp.

Lula is survived by her children, all of Fairland, OK, Rick Oakley and wife Sandra, Pam Tedford, Carla Chappell and husband Leon, Marty Oakley and wife Shelly, Stepson, Jimmy Harding and wife Jeannie, 19 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren, 21 great-great grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Tuesday 12/10/19 between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Afton, Oklahoma.

Grave side services will be Wednesday 12/11/19 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sulphur Bend Cemetery, Fairland, OK.
