Rites were held this morning in Bedford for Herschel P. Bowman, of Route 1, Williams. Mr. Bowman died suddenly Monday evening at his home.
The Rev. Otto Duncan, pastor of the Huron Baptist Church, officiated at the services, and burial took place in the Williams Church of Christ cemetery.
Born August 12, 1892 in Lawrence County, he was the son of Jackson and Mary Harris Bowman. He was married to Gladyeth Ferguson in 1910, and she preceded him in death.
Survivors are six sons, Welbon Bowman, at home, Elbert Bowman and Cecil Bowman of Mitchell, and Arnold Bowman, Orley Bowman and Miles Bowman, all of Mitchell; a daughter, Mrs. John Tumey of Bedford; 10 grandchildren; and four sisters, Mrs. Charles Hayes of Bedford, Mrs. Louis Peterson of Washington, Mrs. Adolph Voorhies of Indianapolis, and Mrs. Raleigh Miller of Williams.
Day and Carter Mortuary of Bedford was in charge of funeral arrangements.
