Raymond Ernest Amador “Ernie” suddenly and unexpectedly left this world to be with Jesus on Wednesday November 20th in Lubbock, TX. He was seventy-six years old.

Ernie was born in Roswell, New Mexico on April 24, 1943 to John B. & Helen Amador.

Ernie enjoyed a good hunt, fishing, drinking coffee, observing wildlife, watching westerns, playing dominos, and spending time with his wife and kids.

Ernie met and married his sweetheart Helen Mendoza in Roswell New Mexico. In the early years of their marriage, they resided in Roswell raising two kids Ernie Jr and Becky until Ernie Sr. had a transfer though his job to Phoenix Arizona. Ernie accepted the Lord while residing in Flagstaff, Arizona under the ministry of Roland Lopez. While in Arizona Ernie and Helen were blessed with two more kids; Cristina and Josh. Ernie lived in Arizona for many years before returning to Roswell, New Mexico to be closer to his parents. While residing in Roswell, the Lord saw fit to take Helen home to Heaven leaving Ernie to raise his two youngest kids with the assistance of their older brother Ernie Jr and sister Becky.

Ernie was blessed when the Lord placed his honey Betty Guillen in his path over a cup of coffee at the local Denny’s. Betty was dear to his heart, a great wife, companion, and ministry partner. Ernie loved to hear Betty sing and her voice through song always played a key role in Ernie’s ministry. Ernie and Betty lived happily married for thirteen years. Ernie’s children always appreciated the love and care Betty provided for their dad, plus she makes a killer stuffed sopapilla.

Ernie loved Jesus and went into full-time ministry in 1992. He began his ministry at Tabernacle Baptist Church where he taught a Spanish Sunday school class after seeing a need in the church. He was ordained under Dr. Onsy Whicker. As the years went on his desire was to reach the Spanish speaking community lead him to start a bilingual church named Hispanic Bible Baptist Church. There he impacted countless lives and achieved his desire to lead as many people to the Lord as possible.

Ernie was a wonderful father, husband, confidant, advisor, pastor, and friend.

Ernie was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Amador, father John B. Amador, his sisters Lucy Phillips and Laura Mae Amador, brother Gilbert Amador, and wife Helen Amador.
