Obituary: The Miller County Autogram, Thursday, December 13, 1956

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the First Christian Church of Eldon for Mrs. Morton Allen, who died suddenly about 5:30 a.m. Sunday at her home just west of Eldon. Mrs. Allen, 78, had been in poor health after previously suffering two strokes, but had been in town
on the Friday before her death. She became ill about 10:30 p.m. Saturday.

Mrs. Allen, the former Dessie Cartee, was born Oct. 9, 1878 in Miller County, the daughter of Taylor and Mary Ashley Cartee. She was married to John B. Kelly who died in 1899. In October 1902, she was married to Morton Allen who survives.

Mrs. Allen was a member of the First Christian Church of Eldon, Eldon Chapter 210, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Farmers' Wives Club.

She had long been active in the Dorcas Class of the Christian Church. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, C.W. Kelly of Hutchinson, Kan., John Kelly of Olathe, Kan., and Bruce Allen of Barnett;
four brothers, E.E. Cartee and Odell Cartee of Sweet Springs, T.L. Cartee of Marshall and Lowell Cartee of Augusta, Kan.; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

The Rev. John Elliott Foster conducted the funeral services
assisted by the Rev. A.L. Alexander of Lake Ozark. Burial was in the Eldon Cemetery under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home. Pallbearers were S.E. Denny, Clarence Foote, Ralph Thomson, Boyce White, Elmont Allee and Clarence Taylor.
