Obituary: The Eldon Advertiser, May 1970

Earl Morton Allen, a retired farmer and stockman of Eldon, died Sunday, May 10, 1970, at St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City. He was 91 years of age. Mr. Allen was born Aug. 18, 1878, at Eldon, the son of Joseph Bruce and Mary Jane (Russell) Allen.

He was married Oct. 19, 1902, to Dessie Cartee Kelly who died Dec. 9, 1956. On March 4, 1959, Mr. Allen was married to Dollie Atkinson who survives.

Mr. Allen was a member of the First Christian Church of Eldon and a life member of the church board. He formerly farmed west of Eldon, but moved to town in 1963.

In addition to his wife, Dollie, he is survived by four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two stepdaughters, Mrs. Ruby Van Pool of Eldon and Mrs. Mina Rinehart of Borger, Tex.; three stepsons, Basil Atkinson and Earl Atkinson of Denver, Colo., and Joe Atkinson of Arlington, Va.; and one sister, Mrs. Ethel George who lives in Tennessee. One son, Bruce Allen, and two stepsons, Waitsek and John Kelly, preceded him in death.

Funeral services for Mr. Allen were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Christian Church of Eldon with the Rev. A.L. Alexander and the Rev. Walter Simpson officiating. Burial was in the Eldon Cemetery under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon.
