Cora Thayer
Cora Thayer, 55, a teacher at Salinas Adult School, died Thursday at Natividad Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 10, 1947, in Manila, the Philippines, and had lived in Monterey County for 43 years.
Mrs. Thayer taught health occupation classes. She was a member of Madonna Del Sasso Church and Salinas Circle for Children. She also was a lay minister and was involved in R.I.C.A., a Christian organization within the church.
Her interests were her faith, her family, health and fitness, arts and crafts, and baking.
She is survived by her husband, Tom of Salinas; two sons, Jeff Thayer of Redwood City and James Thayer of Sacramento; her parents, Joseph and Consolacion Serrano of Salinas; two brothers, Joseph Serrano Jr. of Oceanside and Ramon Serrano of Salinas; and a sister, Vickie Shiroma of Anchorage, Alaska.
Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at Healey Mortuary. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday at Madonna Del Sasso Church, followed by burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Salinas.

The family suggests that any memorial contributions be sent to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 1570, Salinas 93902, or Dorothy's Kitchen, 30 Soledad St., Salinas 93901.
