She was born on August 28, 1932 in Worth County, Mo., to Tonie and Lottie Glick Jones.
On January 6, 1951 she was united in marriage to John Henry Hill. They enjoyed 50 years together on the farm before he preceded her in death in December 2001.
Mrs. Hill is survived by three children: Connie (Fred) Nail and John Hill of Martinsville and Timothy Hill of Columbia; one grandchild: Brad (Angie) Nail and―as she often said―one exceptional great-grandchild: Brayden Nail of Hatfield.
Additional survivors include three sisters: Mildred Smith and Opal Guernsey of Bethany and Betty Thrasher of Grant City; and two brothers: Larry (Sung Ja) Jones of Easton, and Francis "Bud" Jones of Maryville. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister: Ruth Meadows, and five brothers: Truman, Leslie, Cheslie, Dale, and Robert Jones.
Though modest by nature, Donna made an impact on the lives of everyone around her that will last far beyond her 74 years. As a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, she was always prepared to offer an attentive ear and words of encouragement.
She particularly enjoyed her summer garden and was always ready to share the bountiful harvest with friends and family. Seldom did a visitor to the farm leave without her saying, "Why don't we walk out to see the garden before you go." This year's garden was growing by leaps and bounds. In fact, she was out weeding the garden at 6 a.m. just a few days before she passed away.
She cherished her Christian faith and was a long-time member of the Allendale Baptist Church. Her earthly family mourns today, but the angels in heaven rejoice.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 25 at the Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home in Grant City with burial in the Isabelle Cemetery near Allendale Mo. Dr. Leland C. May and Brother Wayne Maness officiated.
