Joseph Edward “Eddie” Vance, age 58 of Petersburg, WV passed away Friday, November 1, 2019 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.

“Eddie” was born January 11, 1961 in Petersburg, WV and was a son of the late John C. Vance and Anna June (Alt) Vance. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother; brother-in-law, Fred Evans, Sr.; niece, Holly Evans and an infant nephew.

“Eddie” is survived by his wife of 39 years, Lisa (Kesner) Vance; one son, John Edward Vance and daughter, Jennifer Elizabeth Vance; two brothers, Larry W. Vance and Steve A. (Diana) Vance both of Petersburg, WV; six sisters, Donna Evans of Maysville, WV, Sherry (Arvel) Evans of Cabins, WV; Linda L. Martin of Petersburg, WV, Karen (Roger) Ours of Cleveland, TN, Jacqueline “Jackie” (Pete) Berg of Petersburg, WV, and Norma (Carroll) Smith of Petersburg, WV and several nieces and nephews.

Eddie attended Dorcas Elementary School and graduated from Petersburg High School in 1979. He started working with his dad driving coal trucks when he was 17 years old and later Eddie owned and operated J. E. Vance Trucking in Petersburg.

He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed washing, working on and building semi and antique trucks. He liked riding motorcycles and ATV’s especially his Polaris RZR. He enjoyed hunting deer and elk in West Virginia and Colorado. He enjoyed watching and attending West Virginia football and basketball games. He attended Sites Chapel and St Johns United Methodist Church. He was an associate member of the Landes Ruritan Club.

Eddie’s family will receive friends Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at 11 AM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home with the Rev. Coleman Clark and Matt Lough officiating. Burial will be in the Crites Cemetery, Dorcas, WV.
